Cannot Make It Up

Two 17-year-old boys.

Angel and Jesu (“God saves”).

Both have brain cancer — a high-grade glioma and DIPG.

One lives in Charlotte, the other near Winston-Salem.

Both have a parent who works the night shift to provide for their family: Angel’s mother and Jesu’s father.

Both families lack reliable transportation to cancer treatment and rely on friends and neighbors.

Each boy has dreamed of having a car as a teenager.

This week, Jane’s Fund surprised Angel, Jesu, and their families with a car, just days apart. Now, treatment can happen on schedule, both boys can worry less about the burden cancer places on their parents, and, for a few brief minutes, each can feel like a normal teenager, receiving a “surprise win” during the hardest fight of their lives.

Miracle Mondays offer a glimpse of what happens when Jane’s Fund simply shows up at schools and hospitals, quietly listens, and raises our hands to help.

Something bigger than words happens every time — the kind of thing we could never dream of or make up. Simply put, miracles happen through children and the people who love them.

Jesu and Angel, thank you for “dreaming big” and reminding us that we walk among angels every day.
