Strangers Unite For a Holiday Miracle
Overwhelmed—and overjoyed—by the number of needs and wishes coming from pediatric patients fighting cancer this holiday season, hospital social worker Tori recognized a crisis unfolding this week.
Danielle, a devoted mom of three, has been living at the Ronald McDonald House far longer than anyone anticipated. Her three-year-old son, Jeremiah, is battling an aggressive tumor that has not responded to chemotherapy. As Jeremiah’s condition worsened, Danielle has found herself falling behind on her car payments.
Called to help, Jane’s Fund stepped in and quickly connected with Michael, the owner of a small car dealership in High Point, NC. Moved by Danielle’s story, Michael sold her the family car at a significant discount. Jane’s Fund arranged for immediate payment, ensuring Danielle would not lose her transportation during this critical time.
A surprise happened the following day when Michael reached back out to Jane’s Fund, exclaiming, “I feel the need to return some of your money. Can I send you a check for $1500” Agreeing to share the additional funds with Danielle to help with gas and Christmas needs for her three children, Michael sent a follow up email that he had never witnessed such a powerful moment as when Danielle arrived, and he told her, “The Ford now belongs to you. All payments have been paid. And here is extra cash for you and your children.”
Danielle’s response: sobs and gasps, “Thank you, Jesus. You hear me, thank you, Jesus.”
The miracles at Jane's Fund happen because of your generosity, and all of us at Jane's Fund are extremely grateful.
