Lemons to Lemonade

Lemonade, popsicles, cookies, and concoctions that only children are creative enough to dream up have organically appeared over the years in the form of lemonade stands supporting Jane’s Fund each summer.

This year, volunteer-extraordinaire and supermom Emily Teddy decided to make Lemons to Lemonade at Jane’s Fund official.

Armed with cups, napkins, a QR code, t-shirts, and a tablecloth in a large pink bucket, children across Charlotte are setting up stands at neighborhood pools, busy intersections, and even vacation destinations to raise money for other children—children facing terminal pediatric cancer diagnoses and students attending under-resourced schools.

The best part?
At Jane’s Fund, we get to watch kids sweat, cheer, create, and enthusiastically work to raise even two more dollars.

Most inspiring is what happens when the hard-working kids are asked which Jane’s Fund project they would like their stand to support. The answers are always heartfelt and filled with the joy that comes from knowing they have helped another child overcome a challenge they themselves have never experienced.

“We want our money to support a school store for students to earn tickets so they can buy things they don’t have—please make sure Crocs are available.”
— Caroline & Eliza

“Please give our money to Joseph’s family so they can afford to have a funeral for him.”
— Sawyer & William

“Give our money to the family or kids that need it most, right now.”
— Collins, Parks, Durham & Caroline

If you or your children (no age is too old) are looking for a meaningful way to change another child’s life this summer, please reach out to pick up a pink lemonade bucket.
