Imagine
At Jane’s Fund, no two cancer stories are the same. Sometimes we walk with a child and their family for years after diagnosis. Other times, the first call comes in crisis — from a social worker at the time of a child’s death. Each time, our response is the same:
We cannot imagine. But we can ask: How can we help change the outcome?
Here is a snapshot of a few cancer kids from this week at Jane's Fund:
Celeste’s Story
Celeste fought brain cancer for years, all while striving towards one goal: to graduate from Winston-Salem State University. Navigating chemotherapy during college, Celeste persevered and excelled in her classes. Four months before graduation, Celeste died.
Now her mom is planning a funeral she cannot afford while being pressured by the landlord to clear out Celeste’s apartment. Jane’s Fund stepped in to cover rent, movers, and packing — more than $12,500 — so Mom could grieve with dignity and strength, and finish Celeste’s race for her. CAN YOU IMAGINE?
Joshua’s Story
Joshua battled leukemia for years, always bouncing back from long hospitalizations for chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants with resilience and a smile…until this week. Joshua’s mom returned home from the hospital early and his dad returned home from his work with red, swollen eyes, speechless. A lung infection ended Joshua's fight too early. CAN YOU IMAGINE?
Joshua's family is left stunned: grief, funeral expenses, and medical bills added to the pressure of work and school. Jane’s Fund is helping relieve that burden, covering nearly $10,000 in costs so his family can focus on healing, not bills.
Aiden’s Story
Aiden has a new brain tumor diagnosis, and this week, his outpatient chemotherapy treatment needs to transition to inpatient care. His dad begged his boss at the construction site for fewer hours. His mom reduced her hours cleaning at the local elementary school. Together, Aiden’s parents are overwhelmed — trying to be at Aiden’s bedside, care for their two other children, and show up to work to pay the bills. CAN YOU IMAGINE?
Jane’s Fund is helping pay more than $11,200 in essential expenses, making sure the family doesn’t lose their home and can fight cancer together.
We need your help to give hope and change the outcome for families who are facing the unimaginable: a terminal cancer diagnosis for their child.
