A Ride to Hope

The Situation

Mikayla is just 14 years old and bravely fighting leukemia. Despite aggressive chemotherapy and treatment, her cancer won’t back down. To stay alive, Mikayla now requires life-saving blood and platelet transfusions weekly.

Life Doesn’t Go As Planned

Mikayla travels more than an hour each way to Atrium Levine Children’s Hospital for cancer care. In the middle of her fight, the family faced another devastating blow — Mom’s car quit running. With no transportation, Mikayla missed a critical transfusion appointment.

Heroes Step In

Juliet, Mikayla’s social worker, knew exactly who to call. She reached out to Jane’s Fund, confident that help would come fast. Within hours, Jane’s Fund provided $100 Uber rides for each leg of the hospital trip so Mikayla could receive her transfusions. Even more importantly, the family was promised a permanent solution within the week.

The Solution

Jane’s Fund kept that promise and purchased a reliable vehicle — with room for a wheelchair and Mikayla’s siblings — for the family. And in what can only be described as a Christmas miracle, the car was delivered on Christmas Eve.

On Miracle Monday…

Mikayla is no longer missing treatments. Transportation is no longer a crisis. And Mikayla's family can focus on what matters most — supporting her as she courageously fights for her life.

Jane's Fund exists because of community. Thank you for raising your hand to give, share, help, and be a part of our team.
