Do You Have a Dream?

Jane’s Fund has a dream: to provide access and opportunity for students without resources in our community.

As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us, “The time is always right to do what’s right.” When a community comes together to do what’s right, the results are powerful. It’s no surprise—especially on Miracle Monday—that students who are given access and opportunity often rise to lead alongside peers who may have always had more. This simple truth reminds us that when both sides of our community work together, everyone wins—especially kids.

One example of this partnership in action is Sport Mode One, led by Lawrence Gordon, where students from different backgrounds come together to compete, grow, and share life experiences. Through Jane’s Fund, access meets opportunity—and lives begin to change.

Kahlil’s mother has a dream:
to raise her son to be a leader and a scholar-athlete.
Kahlil has a dream, too: to play basketball in college.

As a single parent, Kahlil’s mom celebrates and rewards his straight A’s, but hard work alone can’t overcome every barrier. She works full-time and simply lacks the resources required for AAU basketball—rides to and from practice, uniforms and gear, and the travel costs of tournaments out of town. These opportunities, while common for some, were out of reach for Kahlil.

That’s where Jane’s Fund stepped in.

“Thank you, Jane’s Fund, for supporting my love for basketball,” Kahlil says proudly.

Because of that support, Kahlil gained more than time on the court. He gained confidence, accountability, mentorship, and a place to belong.

Kahlil’s story is not unique.

Kingston had a similar experience when Jane’s Fund provided him the opportunity to play on a Sport Mode One team. His mother, LeKcia, shared her gratitude:

“Because of your kindness, Kingston has grown not only as an athlete, but in discipline, confidence, and teamwork. He’s also been able to make new friends. Thank you for investing in my child.”

Lawrence Gordon, Founder of CSF and Sport Mode One, often reaches out to Jane’s Fund when he meets children who lack access to resources. He understands firsthand the power of opportunity and hope.

“It’s kids like Kingston and Kahlil who make their teammates and coaches better just by showing up,” Lawrence says. “That’s why support from Jane’s Fund matters—it creates opportunity and hope where it’s needed most.”

Jane’s Fund’s dream is simple, yet transformative: when access meets opportunity, potential becomes reality—and our entire community is stronger for it.

Thank you for making dreams come true at Jane's Fund!
