Two Brave Lives

The world abruptly changed this week for two families with a child battling cancer. In the same hospital. On the same day. Unexpected. Two children died: Tizzy, an almost five-year-old forever-princess, and Jason, a boy who dresses his best on the worst days and never grows tired of Mickey Mouse and pinwheels.

Fearless. These two children fought cancer relentlessly, and now their families will face a world without them. The world will continue to spin, but HOPE will continue to show up for both families.

Jane’s Fund founders, the Harrells, know the fight well. For the five months Little Jane fought brain cancer (DIPG), community stepped in and made the difference for the Harrells as they returned to a life without her. Today, community is here for Tizzy and Jason's families.

Tizzy and Jason fought cancer with joy—coloring masterpieces, making bracelets, and insisting life had never been better. And who but Jason could put on a coat and tie with a smile and arrive at treatment with a spinning pinwheel to share with nurses? Tizzy and Jason gave the world wisdom and joy as they came face to face with death. They set the tone, inspiring others not just to survive, but to live with a power and purpose. 

Today, on Miracle Monday, a community will work together, each providing little things—food, hugs, paying bills, planning funerals—and together tackle the big things so Tizzy and Jason can be celebrated and their families can take the next step.
