Progress in Action
Starting our fourth school year at Jane's Fund, something happened last week in our partner schools that created a contagious JOY and MOMENTUM quite difficult to describe.
North Carolina released their school performance grades, A through F, that represent student achievement and academic growth. All but 1 of the schools Jane’s Fund has a relationship with improved their scores— and even better, exceeded growth!
Janes Fund received two phone calls the day the scores were released from principals sharing they “moved up” and are “off the list”, marking astounding progress recognized by the school district. Recognizing the impact Jane’s Fund has had on their school growth coupled with the shared knowledge of the challenges that ignited and lead to their rise, Jane’s Fund was humbled and honored to celebrate the victories with students and staff at Ranson Middle School and Garinger High School.
Sometimes Jane’s Fund is one of many school partners, other times we are one of a few, but in either case we try to bring in others to join a network working together to strengthen under-resourced schools.
There is no better feeling than joining a team working together to achieve a goal — and then meeting and exceeding it. By providing basic needs, opportunities, and access through attendance and academic incentives, field trips, and giving students the chance to participate and compete with peers, your commitment and generosity to Jane’s Fund is invaluable.
Change rarely happens in a day or one school year but with time. Thank you to our donors and all the other organizations in our community helping make progress in our schools possible.
