The 1st Day

For some students, the first day of school is the best day—new outfits, book bags full of supplies, and stories of magical summer vacations. For others, it can feel like the worst day—starting the year without deodorant, without a parent cheering at the bus stop, or without the uniform their classmates are wearing.

As Jane's Fund begins our third school year, we are more hopeful than ever about helping close these gaps for students in under-resourced schools. After a busy summer of planning with school leaders and administrators, we’ve identified key educational projects that support four essential goals for student success:

- Increased attendance rates

- Improved proficiency scores

- Higher graduation rates

- A healthy, positive school culture

As we continue to celebrate Garinger High School's Friday Night football win and West Charlotte High’s marching band and football team performing at Bank of America Stadium, we are reminded that all students can succeed when given basic supplies, educational opportunities, and a lot of love and encouragement.

What's Ahead This School Year

Here’s a glimpse of the exciting plans Jane’s Fund and our eight partner schools developed this summer.  With your support, these initiatives will become everyday miracles for students:

Seven under-resourced schools will enjoy a $100 "Teacher & Staff Surprise Day."

6th graders will kick off the year with team bonding at the Whitewater Center.

7th graders will travel to Atlanta.

8th graders will explore Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and The Outer Banks.

K-8th graders will earn "tickets from teachers and coaches" for academic, attendance, and behavior success— redeemable at school stores.

Team Olympics with teams competing all year for the trophy, each winning points for service, academic, athletic, and attendance success

Arts and music funding will expand programs where resources are scarce.

Attendance “No Tardy Glow Party”

Graduating seniors will receive computers to launch their next chapter.

With your help, we can turn these plans into a reality, and we can’t wait to share more Miracles on Monday!
