Foxhole Friends

When kids and families are in crisis, there are moments when someone must step up, help, and do the right thing—no questions asked. Jane’s Fund understands what it’s like to live through crisis and to receive help from “FOXHOLE FRIENDS.” Jane's fund exists because FOXHOLE FRIENDS gave us the resources and hope we needed to survive during—and after—Jane’s fight with brain cancer.

Today, Jane’s Fund has MANY opportunities to be a FOXHOLE FRIEND for students in under-resourced schools. Because of our strong community relationships, we are able to step in immediately when life doesn’t go as planned. Just this week, we witnessed several small miracles as school leaders reached out, and we were able to help avert crisis or provide hope and opportunity:

A late-night phone call came from a tearful school principal, devastated that her students would be unable to test this week because the school lacked 400 computer chargers. No questions asked, Jane’s Fund stepped in.

A text from a high school football coach asked if Jane’s Fund could arrange sports physicals for new students who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to play. Those physicals revealed that eight players couldn’t participate without inhalers for asthma—so Jane’s Fund provided them.

An email from a principal introduced us to Skyler, the senior class president. Skyler’s dream was to plan a class trip to the zoo, but many students had never left their neighborhood—or even Charlotte. With Jane’s Fund’s support, the trip is expanding beyond the zoo to include a hike on the Appalachian Trail, giving students an experience they’ll never forget—just as any FOXHOLE FRIEND would do.

Thanks to all of you for being a FOXHOLE FRIEND, and for enabling Jane’s Fund to continue being a FOXHOLE FRIEND to others.
