Building Space to Play, Grow, and Belong

At Jane’s Fund, we believe miracles don’t always arrive in grand moments. Sometimes, they are built one swing, one laugh, and one friendship at a time.

This Miracle Monday, we’re proud to spotlight our partnership with The Nest Academy and the $57,000 playground Jane’s Fund built to serve not only their students, but the children and families who live in the surrounding east Charlotte neighborhood as well.

The Nest Academy aims to bridge the opportunity gap by providing a holistic education for underprivileged and at-risk K-12 students, creating an environment where every child is supported, understood, and empowered to thrive. But like many schools, they faced a challenge that seems simple on the surface...they didn’t have a playground. And that matters more than many people realize.

What made this project even more special is where the playground lives. The space sits between a church and the school, intentionally designed to create opportunity for both the students of The Nest Academy and the surrounding community. It is a place where two worlds meet and where faith, education, and community come together to create something stronger than any one organization could build alone.

At Jane’s Fund, we believe the most meaningful impact happens in partnership. By working alongside schools, churches, and community leaders, we are able to turn shared visions into real spaces where children can grow, play, and thrive.

Because play is not a break from learning — it is learning.

Research consistently shows that access to safe, engaging play spaces helps children develop stronger social skills, build confidence, regulate emotions, and reduce stress. For students who already work harder than most just to navigate daily routines, having a place to move, explore, and simply be kids is life-changing.

This playground is now a place where students can:

• Practice communication and teamwork
• Develop confidence through small daily victories
• Experience joy, which is something every child deserves

Jane’s Fund believes kids who climb, fall, and get back up again grow into resilient adults, future graduates, and community leaders.
