Turn the Lights On

When Lindsay, one of the social workers on Alexis’s care team, reached out to us this week, she shared a story that reminded us exactly why Jane’s Fund exists.

Seventeen-year-old Alexis is bravely fighting brain cancer (high-grade glioma) and is back at the hospital for eleven days of palliative radiation treatment. Her body is struggling to keep up, yet in the midst of her fight, she’s the glue that holds her family together — helping her younger sister with school and life while their grandmother works full-time to keep things afloat.

During Alexis’s hospital stay, her grandmother received a notice the electricity was turned off, leaving their home in darkness. Struggling to keep up with the growing stack of bills, Alexis's grandmother asked social worker Lindsay for help. Jane's Fund acted immediately.

Alexis completes treatment today, and she and her grandmother will not return home to cold darkness. The family will open their door to a home that’s warm and bright — with rent and utilities covered for the upcoming months.

For families like Alexis’s, your generosity doesn’t just pay the bills — it provides stability and hope.

Thank you for keeping the lights on for Alexis and many other children suffering from cancer.
